ABOUT IOWA CYP
ABOUT THE IOWA CHILD & YOUTH PROGRAM
Iowa CYP supports Guard families by strengthening youth and reducing the everyday pressures of military life. Through programs, events, and resources, we build connection, resilience, and readiness across Iowa.
WHO WE ARE
BUILT FOR GUARD FAMILIES—FROM DRILL WEEKEND TO HOMECOMING
For more than two decades, we’ve invested in Guard-connected youth through trusted mentors, resilient friendships, and experiences that reinforce stability at home.
Our Mission
Support Guard-connected kids and caregivers with experiences, resources, and trusted relationships that build resilience and stability at home.
Our Vision
A future where every Guard family is supported by a connected community—and the strength of those families is recognized as essential to readiness and retention.
How We Work
The foundation behind every event, resource, and connection
Behind the scenes, we focus on a set of core priorities that ensure programs run smoothly, resources reach families, and leaders across the state see measurable impact.
Partnership Cultivation
Build and strengthen local and statewide partnerships that expand capacity, enhance experiences, and extend our reach to more families.
Storytelling & Advocacy
Share real Guard family stories to highlight impact, identify gaps, and inform decision-makers where support matters most.
Data-Driven Decisions
Track outcomes and trends to demonstrate gains in resilience, connection, and readiness.
Marketing & Visibility
Keep families and leaders informed through clear, consistent communication and strong program presence.
Core Values
How we show up for Guard families every day.
These values guide how we plan, partner, and deliver—whether we’re in a school gym, on the road, or huddled with parents over coffee.
Show Up
We’re consistent and dependable, showing up when families need us and staying present through the full rhythm of Guard life.
Build Connection
Relationships come first. We make space for trust, familiarity, and the kind of belonging that helps families feel less alone.
Be Intentional
Every action has purpose, from the way we plan events to how we use time, energy, and resources to serve families well.
Earn Trust
We follow through with clear communication, dependable support, and the kind of consistency people can count on.
Keep Growing
We evolve to serve better by listening, learning, and adjusting so our programs stay relevant to the families we serve.
Meet the Team
Program staff who plan shoulder-to-shoulder with Iowa Guard families.
Our staff includes coordinators, coaches, and camp leads who grew up in military households or have served alongside them. We stay on the road, on the phone, and online so every family has a direct line to someone who understands the rhythm of Guard life.
